With 8 world premieres and everything from burlesque to the best in New Zealand contemporary dance a remarkable selection of performances to delight and entertain everyone.
A startling world premiere featuring some of our homegrown internationally renowned talent dancing overseas and a glorious new film with live score makes for a small but excellent film programme.
Our ever-popular ‘Have a Go’ workshops are back for 2012 and find themselves in three different venues over the three weekends of the festival. All workshops are koha/donation in cost and require no bookings, so just turn up and ‘dance away’.
We are pleased to present another comprehensive set of workshops making use of the NASDA studios at the Christchurch Polytechnic. Where applicable, booking information is included with the description of the workshops and most will accept people wishing to ‘just turn up’ on the day as well.
This year we are proud to be able to support the following events and workshops through profile in the programme and hope you will support all of these artists in their own spaces and studios as they help to continue the growth of The Body Festival.
The festival really takes itself out to the community this year; from roller skating on New Brighton pier to ‘Speed Dancing’ in Rangiora and Ohoka, silent discos to workshops spread far and wide as well as a dance studio in a shipping container, indulge yourself this festival with dance to suit all ages.
